Smoke, heat, and multi-sensor detectors with compliant sounder and beacon configurations. Systems designed to BS 5839 standards.

📋

Commissioning and certification

Full commissioning on completion with documented test results. Systems are commissioned in line with manufacturer requirements and BS 5839.

🔧

Servicing and maintenance

Periodic maintenance contracts to keep your system compliant with BS 5839 and your insurance requirements. Six-monthly or annual service visits.

🚨

Alarm monitoring

Remote monitoring options available via an Alarm Receiving Centre, so activations are responded to even outside of staffed hours.

Suitable for

Systems sized to your premises

The appropriate fire alarm system depends on the size, layout, and use of your premises. A small office has different requirements to a multi-floor commercial building or a school.

We carry out a site survey and review any existing fire risk assessment before recommending a system. Where a fire risk assessment has not been carried out, we can advise on next steps.

Common questions

Fire alarm installation — what you need to know

What does the law require for commercial fire alarms?

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person for commercial premises must carry out a fire risk assessment and put in place appropriate fire detection and warning measures. The type of system required depends on the size and use of the premises.

How often does a fire alarm need to be serviced?

For commercial premises, BS 5839-1 requires servicing at least every six months, with quarterly servicing recommended. Residential systems under BS 5839-6 require annual servicing as a minimum, with six-monthly recommended. Most insurers also specify regular servicing as a condition of cover.

Can you take over maintenance of an existing system?

Yes. We can inspect an existing installation, assess its condition, and provide ongoing maintenance. We work with most major panel manufacturers.

What is the difference between L and M category systems?

L category systems are life protection systems designed to give early warning of fire. M category systems are manual systems only, with no automatic detection. Most commercial premises require at minimum an L system, with the specific category determined by the fire risk assessment.
